Ian McMillan Legendary poet Ian McMillan (pictured right at HebWeb HQ) headlines the first True Stories Told Live showcasing the ancient art of storytelling.

The Bard of Barnsley is also one of the most gifted storytellers in the country and he will performing one of his new tales especially composed for this free event at the Trades Club on Monday 4th April.

The event has been organised by True Stories Hebden Bridge founder Mal Campbell who believes everyone has story to tell and this is the place to do it.

A top quality bill is completed by the editor of Word magazine David Hepworth who many will remember as a presenter on the Old Grey Whistle Test and local storyteller Christine Macmahon.

Live music comes from singer songwriter David Ford who has supported big name acts including Suzanne Vega, KT Tunstall and Elvis Costello. David will be playing songs from his solo repertoire including tracks from his last critically acclaimed album 'Let The Hard Times Roll'

Doors open at 7.30pm for this free event and seats are strictly on a first come, first served basis.

"The art of storytelling is an old one with a rich history in our valley and Mal has pulled together an amazing group of performers who give their stories a contemporary twist," Trades Club spokesperson Paul Clarke told the HebWeb.
