Calder Ward Forum

Monday, 26 November 2012

The next Calder Ward Forum will be on Tuesday, 4th December in the Waterfront Hall, Hebden Bridge Town Hall and residents can attend an informal drop-in from 5pm with local people being asked to share their views on the Local Plan with planning officers including commenting on what new homes, jobs and services are needed in Calderdale in the future.

The Ward Forum will open from 6:15 for a 6:45pm start and will include a presentation on the Calderdale Local Plan and report updates on local Bus Services and pedestrian safety on the A646.

In addition, Calder Ward Forum will make local history when for the Police and Communities Together (PACT) and Police Priorities and Open Forum sections of the meeting those present at the meeting will also be joined by residents online who will be able to ask questions and receive answers over the internet.

This is the first time in West Yorkshire that the Police and Calderdale Council will have run an online session alongside a live meeting and local people within the Calder Ward who are unable to attend the Forum will be able to login online between 7:30pm and 8:15pm and ask questions and highlight issues in their local area and participate in those sections of the meeting.

To participate, local residents can visit this web page and sign in to ask questions at that time by clicking on the Live Now! button and there is an email reminder service available that will send you an email an hour beforehand. The online session will be available for viewing only afterwards.

It is hoped that the scheme will encourage more people to actively participate in the Ward Forums and PACT meetings, particularly people who live in rural areas, are unable to attend due to disabilities or age and those who through other personal circumstances are unable to attend these meetings in person.

If successful, it is hoped that a similar scheme may be rolled out to other consultations in the future.
