Painting the tops

Wednesday, 7 June 2017

Walking on the tops around our area you are likely to come across a trig point on the top of a hill. Originally installed as a surveying point they are now largely redundant because of GPS. However, they are still a familiar and useful (sometimes crucial) aid to navigation for walkers.

Trigs

Many of them are neglected with most of the white paint flaking off, making them less visible. CROWS has set an aim this year to repaint all the trig points in our area.

CROWS volunteers have completed two and raised the funds to do two more, but there are eleven Trig points to do. As volunteers, they do all the work for nothing but they don't have the funds to purchase the specialist paint which costs £20 per trig point.

So, CROWS are asking people to sponsor a Trig Point by donating £20. It can be a general sponsorship or for a specific Trig point.

Cheques can be left at Mountain Wild, Hebden Bridge; Information Centre, Todmorden or at the CROWS depot at White Ribbon, Mytholmroyd.

Details for making an electronic transfer or donating by text are on the CROWS website are on the CROWS website
