Riding round the world on a Honda

Saturday, 04 Oct 2003

Hi all,
Now in Ushuaia, Argentina, the most southernmost city in the world. I arrived in Argentina at Buenos Aires. I rode down to Ushuaia in and out of Chile over the Andes mountains. There was snow on the mountains and it were very cold and it snowed, sometimes. I will now ride up to Alaska. On the way, I will ride around Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Central America, Mexico and just the west side of USA and Canada and as much of Alaska as I can find. I will let you all know when I get to Alaska.

All the best to you all from Ian Coates, Blackshaw Head, near Hebden Bridge, HX7 7JQ, West Yorkshire, England. email: coatesian@hotmail.com.

Hi, everybody I am now on my way to Ushuaia which is right at the bottom of South America in Argentina. When I get there I will turn round and ride up to Alaska.

I left Buenos Aires on the 13th of this month.

Hi there to you all.

Now back riding my motor bike, in Auckland at Blue Wing Honda.

They are the importers of Hondas in NZ. They are letting me use their racing workshop. I am striping the bike down and giving it a long overdue major service. New chain, spoketts brake pads, tyres, plugs, setting tappets.

Bike now done 65,000miles and never had tappets checked.

Hope to finish service off in a few days then I will take it for a run for a few days then strip it down and put it in a crate and ship it to South America!!!!

I hope to leave NZ at the end of the month (June). I will have been here 15 months and rode 14,000miles or about 23,330km and mostly on the south island.

Well thanks to you all for wishing me well when I was in hospital in Dunedin. I will let you all know when I am riding again in South America.

Adios. Ian Coates.
