TV and power cuts |
Sunday, September 28, 2003 A "high voltage failure" has led to power cuts throughout Heptonstall, Erringden and surrounding areas, and TV transmission failures over a wider area. The BBC first told the Hebden Bridge Web that they expected reception to be back around 9.30pm Saturday. The latest information they are giving out is that they hope to have screens back by 1pm. A power failure has effected the local transmitter - Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd are both affected. Since the privatisation of the transmitter services in 1997, the company who is responsible is not the BBC but Crown Castle. They have told the Hebden Bridge Web that there has been a serious mains failure and that Npower hope to have it repaired by 2.30pm Sunday. TV receptions finally returned about 5.45pm Sunday.
