At 7.30 this morning, residents awoke to find an army of security guards all along Windsor View. They attacked anyone who tried to get near or go over the wall to the Mill Pond or exercise their right of way through the Mill Pond. They were abusive and aggressive.

Police came eventually and the security guards then stopped for a while. Trees were felled with people still up them. Look North, Calendar, Evening Courier and the Hebden Bridge Times also came later and spoke to all concerned. Tuesday morning's events were co-ordinated by Mark Clyndes.

All morning, residents remonstrated with them and Mark Clyndes, who was organising this assault. Many people still managed to get on to the Mill Pond, and climb trees. But by midday when the Forestry Commission arrived, and they were finally persuaded to stop, most had been felled.

A company called Green Tops bought the land earlier this year. This has one named director, Richard Broome but is supported by a consortium of local businessmen.
