The studios on Melbourne St have been home to a great many artists over the last 13 years. This is a poignant open studios as it could well be the last in their current premises. The studio group are looking at new premises as their present mill is now earmarked for development into flats.

"We have been very encouraged by the tremendous support we have received since announcing our uncertain future. Moving a whole studio group with all its equipment is a daunting task but we have already received Arts Council funding to finance a feasibility study and to facilitate a move." said Don Myers Chair of Northlight Art Studios.

"We are very keen to keep the group together and to stay in Hebden Bridge. We are, after all, very much part of the reason why Hebden Bridge is such a vibrant and creative place.

"We are now seriously looking at new premises and hope to raise more funding to make the move not only possible but to improve the quality of the facilities we offer. We are shortly to become a Limited Company and have a healthy waiting list for studio spaces.

"Our Open Studio event was very busy all weekend, proving how much artists and the general public value such an institution in Hebden Bridge."
