Crow Nest plans thrown out again

Saturday, October 14, 2006

The Planning Inspectorate has concluded that the development would "be in stark contrast to the town's surrounding modest residential and commercial development and would not reflect the character or history of existing mill buildings. "I am also concerned about the impact of the development on highway safety along Mayroyd Lane," the inspector added.

Land On Crow Nest Road
Hebden Bridge
West Yorkshire
HX7 6JF

The controversial application to build 90 residential units in three blocks of six-storey apartments has been refused by the Council under its delegated powers. Here is the decision letter.

It seems that the developer was also 'not prepared to provide affordable housing as part of the scheme due to the high level of development costs associated with this site', or make a contribution via a commuted payment to the additional infrastructure such as school places required by the scheme.
