Lorry ploughs into house |
Monday, August 22, 2005 A lorry loaded with tar ploughed into a house at Sandbeds Villas, Halifax Road. Amazingly, no-one was killed in this horrific road accident which closed the road between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden for most of today. Both the lorry driver and the driver of the Vauxhall Omega car have received very serious injuries. It took three hours to free the truck driver. The accident happened near CVS, just over a mile from Hebden Bridge around 9.15 this morning. Debra Haswell was sitting on the sittee with her daughter when the lorry hit, and feared her house was falling down. All the family are unhurt - but homeless. Local residents told the Hebden Bridge Web that they have, for some time, been concerned about speeding and poor driving standards along this section of the road. Some had already contacted the Highways Department and the Police.
