Thursday, January 19, 2006 Below is the table of secondary school results for Calderdale for last year. Calder High achieved one of the highest GCSE scores for a comprehensive school in Calderdale with 63% of students achieving five or more grade A-Cs; seven points above the national average. This is the best results we have reported for Calder High since we started in the mid 90s. Although it may not greatly affect the Upper Calder Valley, Calderdale is one of the few remaining authorites to retain grammar schools and selection at 11. Post 16 results were not so impressive. At 252, A and AS level results were 25 points behind the national average of 277. This continues to puzzle parents given the catchment area for the school.
