To coincide with the Big Green Weekend at the end of May, the Little Valley Brewery will be throwing open it's doors to beer lovers in our area on the 24th and 26th May.
Along with a stall on the main market in Hebden Bridge, Wim van der Spek, the Dutch born Master Brewer and owner (now living in Hebden Bridge with his English partner Sue Cooper), will be brewing beer on both these days for members of the public to watch and sample some of their Organic Real Ales free of charge. You may even be able to sample our upcoming (June 2008) Fairtrade Organic Ginger Pale Ale, which has so far received exceptional reviews as a monthly special in many public houses.
Little Valley Brewery, which is usually open to the public 9-5 Mon-Fri, produce Organic Real Ales in the idyllic setting high on the moors in Cragg vale above Hebden Bridge. Our beers are organically produced and environmentally sound, from the quality of the ingredients through to delivery; and assuring you of a pure, natural and fresh tasting range of beers. Little Valley is also approved by the Soil Association, Vegan Society and hopefully soon, the Fairtrade Foundation.
Poster competition deadline extended
The deadline for Big Green Weekend poster competition has been extended until the end of next week, so there is another chance for budding artists to get their work seen around our valley.
"We've had some great entries so far, but we've had a request to extend the deadline as some groups felt it was a little short. The judges aren't meeting until the end of next week so we're more than happy to wait until then to see what comes in" said Big Green Weekend co-ordinator, Jason Elliott.
As well as having their design used on the poster, the winner will also get a family ticket to one of the UK's top environmental attractions at Bewilderwood in Norfolk.
The new deadline is next 5pm Thursday, May 1st, by which time the artwork must be sent to The Big Green Weekend Poster Competition, The Big Room, Beehive Mills, Hebble End, Hebden Bridge, HX7 6HJ.

To coincide with the Big Green Weekend the Climate Chaos Kitchen Video Booth will be out and about patrolling our streets collecting opinions, rants, discourses and disjointed mumblings from the folk on the street.
The Chaos Kitchen Crew are cooking up a film with your thoughts on issues like sustainable transport, building on local food production and what we’re going to do when the oil runs out to make a local film – Hebden Bridge The movie!
Catch them in the market place or at the film night to have your say, find out what else the Climate Chaos Kitchen are up to or just admire their rather stunning range of aprons.
The booth will also be accompanied by a solar powered sound system playing an eclectic range of tunes that will help charge up your renewable batteries.

Two weeks ago, Hebden Royd Town Council gave a resounding thumbs up with a unanimous vote to the staging of a Big Green Weekend over the bank holiday of the 24th, 25th and 26th of May. The event will celebrate all things, green, sustainable, environmentally friendly, eco, fairtrade and organic.
This represents an incredible opportunity for Hebden Royd to show off its credentials as the most innovative and forward looking location in the UK where business and pleasure, work and play, go hand in hand with consideration and care for both people and the the planet we live in.
There will be media attention on the town so it's up to us to make the most of this opportunity.
The centrepiece of the event will be a visit from The Big Green Market to be held in St Georges Square, Bridge Gate and Lees Yard but what will really make the weekend go with a bang will be if we all get involved by organising a full programme of ancillary activities.
Jason Eliot told the Hebden Bridge Web, "Since I first mentioned the idea a few weeks back there have been some great ideas coming in, from organic ice cream tasting to film screenings, but this is definitely a case where more is better.
"I appreciate that having a year's notice to organise events is great, but we have nine weeks, and a huge amount can be done in nine weeks!
"If you'd like to put something on, however small it may be, then please get in touch with the details and I'll put it up on www.biggreenweekend.org.uk and make sure it gets into the printed programme. Likewise, if you fancy helping out at all with the organisation then please drop me a line."
