Handmade Parade

Added Monday, 26 May 2008

The Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade will dance through Hebden Bridge town centre on Saturday 19 July 2008, to conclude at Calder Holmes Park, at the ‘World on Your Doorstep’ festival.

Handmade Parade

This community-generated parade will help to celebrate the creativity, variety and uniqueness of Hebden Bridge and its surrounding areas and

we hope that it will offer the many facets of the community an opportunity to make art together and connect local artists (makers, painters, dancers, musicians, performers) with each other and with local communities, schools and community groups.

This parade is produced by two Hebden Bridge-based organisations: HEADS, who delivers a wide range of participatory arts projects across Calderdale and Thingumajig Theatre, who works both nationally and internationally on visual performances and outdoor events.

Public Workshops
For the 2 weeks prior to the parade we will be occupying a large mill space at Pennine Industrial Park on Valley Road, Hebden Bridge where we will be holding open workshops for families, teenagers and adults to come and create their own wonderful costumes, banners and giant puppets for the parade. The workshop times will be well advertised in the local press, on our website and on posters.
