There is to be a 'Candle Vigil' to support Tibet, on the eve of the Beijing Olympics in the square in Hebden Bridge on Thursday 7th August at 9pm. Bring a candle, though the organisers will try to provide as many as possible.

The following day Friday, 8th August, Tibet sypathisers will will be walking up to Stoodley Pike and at 1pm plan to let off red flares. The Tibetan flag will be raised which will be seen all around Calder Valley.

Organiser Richard Dalby has told the Hebden Bridge Web, "This is just a small, peaceful way to remember and dedicate some time for Tibet, as the media frenzy of the Olympic Games takes over from the real realities of China's abysmal human rights record."

On Saturday, 16th August, there will be a Concert for Tibet at the Hebden Bridge Trades Club in aid of the Tibetan Children's Village with Francis Lickerish (of The Enid) and support from Creedy and Nic Chapman.9pm. £6.50/£5
