Civic Trust public meeting: Who are the tourists?

Tuesday, 10 November 2009

How important is tourism to our town?  Where do the tourists come from?  How much do they spend in our shops and which shops?  Where do they stay and how easy is it for them to find accommodation they can afford?  What facilities do they expect?  Do they create any problems for those of us who live here?  Is there anything more that could be done to help them respect our community and the environment?

Calder Civic Trust has organised a public meeting which will deal with these questions and more.

The speakers will be Mark Humphreys, Calderdale Tourism & Rural Development Officer;  Duncan McKie of Pot Stop and Chair of the Hebden Bridge Business Association;  and Sarah Nicholls who has the five star B&B Holme House on New Road.  There will be time for general discussion.
The meeting will be held in the main council chamber of the Town Hall (previously known as the Council Offices) on Thursday 19 November at 7.30 pm.

It is hoped people will come along, listen to the speakers and share their views.
