Dark clouds over Hebden

Does anyone know what the dark line of smoke/cloud was over Hebden yesterday morning? A friend and I walked up to Horsehold and over towards Stoodley Pike yesterday about 11.00 and the sky ws crystal clear and only a few vapour trails and little feathery white clouds to be seen - except for this layer of dark cloud that looked more pollution-coloured than cloud-coloured, looking back towards the Heptonstall end of Hebden. We concluded t must be a big fire somehwhere, and as we returned, around 1.30, it had all but cleared. Anyone?

There is some heather burning going on up on the grouse moors above Hardcastle Crags at the moment which may explain it. Ideal weather for it.
