I just wanted to make public my absolute opposition to the Arts Festival funding cut which I believe has seriously dented the credibility of the new Community Funding Committee. I think it was inexcusable and a betrayal of the previous commitments the Town Counci has made to the Festival.

I hope voters will note that all the Liberal Democrats backed this proposal. As Labour Mayor, I'm now a member of this Committee and will be doing my best to ensure such wrong-headed decisions are not taken again. And that the Committee does what it was set up to do - which is to encourage as many groups in the community as possible.
