I've read that, years ago, this service ran only in summer, because conditions on the moors ruled out all-year operation. Yet I have also read that it was running in February 1937.

Do any older readers remember this service from the 1950s/60s, and whether it ran all year round then?

I have a March 1969 timetable, which shows just two return trips a day. By 1973, it was down to weekends only (service 19).
