Well it worked - provoking a reaction! I only want to comment about the lack of banking facilities. Most banks are closing their High St. branches anyway, but if you bank with smile (certainly one of the most ethical and environment-friendly banks) you can do everything at the Post Office. And Mytholmroyd Post Office staff are a very friendly happy bunch of people. And far from vegetating, most pensioners I know have a much more interesting social life than most working people.
