Cars vs Pedestrians

As a car driver and a pedestrian I have experienced such difficulties in Hebden Bridge. Part of the problem seems to be that car drivers pay road tax! Some feel this entitles them to priority on the roads, even if this means forcing folk to scatter all over the road in panic. The only other things on the road worthy of consideration are other drivers, so they are the only ones who deserve(!) a signal.
There is a woman in these parts who has got a system for dealing with. She walks with a stick, and when she gets to the kerb and wants to cross, she sticks out her stick(!) and sets off!!
It is surprisingly effective, so get a stick!
