William Rofe exhibition

Mike Barrett writes:

Bill has spent a year painting his native Hebden in all weathers. He did not make it easy for himself: manipulating large canvases sometimes at the crack of dawn to capture that elusive light.

The results are ten stunning expressive joyous canvasses depicting our town as it was always waiting to be depicted. Here is the old packhorse bridge vibrant with colour and life. Here is an autumn panorama glowing with mellow light. Here are the chimneys, the trees, the blossoms of a summer morning. And here is Bonfire Night with flames, fireworks and silhouettes. And the paint has only just dried on an expressionist diptych of Hebden shrouded in snow.

Come and enjoy it!
