News from the New Delight Campaign Group

The New Delight Campaign Group is ecstatic to announce that the Newdy will soon be officially opening its doors once again. The new landlord and landlady (Dan and Laura) are hoping to have an opening night party at the end of November. The bar is open and fully-functioning already, and snacks such as sandwiches and pies are being served, but the pub is not yet serving meals, as it will take a couple of weeks for the new owners to prepare the kitchens.

The group would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of support we received during our campaign. Support has come from Chris McCafferty MP, local councillors, the Hebden Bridge Times and Courier, the Hebden Bridge Website, Blackshaw and Heptonstall Parish Councils, the Campaign For Real Ale, Hebden Bridge Tourist Information, the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, walkers groups, local shopkeepers and most importantly huge numbers of the public (including people from as far away as Dewsbury, Leeds and London).

We have no doubt that without all the support we have received and the fact that the Tasker family were willing to buy the pub, the New Delight would have become yet another local pub to be turned over to housing development.

We hope that as many people as possible will come and join us to celebrate in the New Delight.
