Tea with Alice

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

"Tea with Alice" is from 4pm-6pm, 22nd October
at the Trades Club, Holme Street, Hebden Bridge.

Alice MahonFormer Halifax MP Alice Mahon is making the short trip to Hebden Bridge on the afternoon of Saturday 22nd October to help Mayor of Hebden Royd Cllr Stewart Brown raise funds for his charity, a project seeking to rejuvenate the Memorial Gardens in Hebden Bridge.

Cllr Brown told the Hebden Bridge Web: "I'm sure it will prove to be an interesting event. Alice will be talking about and answering questions about her life and her parliamentary experience from 1987 until she stood down this year. I know she has been described as a "hard left class warrior", and obviously she has been a high profile critic of several Government decisions, not least the war in Iraq. However, many of us in the labour movement know of her commitment to a wide range of issues, especially her sterling parliamentary work to secure improvements in the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer."
