Children's Centre for Hebden Bridge?

Monday, November 28, 2005

Government funding of £4.5m over the next three years means that Hebden Bridge could be the next place in the Calder Valley to benefit from the opening of a Children's Centre. A report going to Calderdale Council's Cabinet next week proposes that this should include a centre in Hebden Bridge, as well as various other locations in Calder Valley and Halifax

The proposed Children's Centre will bring together all the services that are important for families with young children such as family support, childcare and early education, activities to help children into work, Job Centre Plus, play and out of school provision and extra help for children with special needs.

Chris McCafferty MPChris McCafferty MP for the Calder Valley welcomed the extra money and the opportunities it will offer to families with young children and told the Hebden Bridge Web:

"We already have some great services for children in Calderdale, including the Centre at Crossley Mill, and this will add to the range of services available for local families and children. These proposals are a real opportunity for Calderdale to use Government investment to give more children a better start in life; I hope they will act quickly on these recommendations, and look forward to seeing a debate with the local communities about the best way of developing the centre."
