Hebden Bridge green company now recycling rubber

British Recycled Plastic (aka Green Refurb Ltd) has relaunched as British Recycled Products after adding a range made from used car tyres.

The Hebden Bridge business launched in May this year with their Hebden 40 ecopaver, and since then they have expanded their product range to include everything from bollards to benches. Despite the company's short history, they have taken the market by storm and have already amassed an impressive client roster that includes the MoD, ASDA and the City of London Corporation, as well as local councils and schools across the country.

Director Jason Elliott puts the company's success down to the fact that as well as sourcing their raw materials in the UK, all of their products are also manufactured locally. Jason told the Hebden Bridge Web, “Of course, many of our clients are just looking for the durability and negligible maintenance that these types of materials offer, but increasingly, there is an awareness of the much larger carbon footprint of imported products.”

“As the credit crunch deepens, it helps too that we are able to support Yorkshire jobs by keeping revenue circulating in the local economy,” he added.

One and two piece quick-lay speed cushions, together with tactile paving for pedestrian areas, are the first of the recycled rubber products in the BRP range but Elliott sees many other uses for the material. “The flexibility of the rubber is not its only asset, it is also exceptionally strong and remarkably vandal resistant. We currently have a project in R&D that will partner it up with recycled plastic lumber to make community noticeboards that can be used in some of the country's most challenging urban areas.”
