Cartoons for Cards and KIDS

Hebden Bridge cartoonist seeks to raise money for children's disability charity.

Wednesday, 19 November 2008

Local cartoonist, Fran Orford is raising money for KIDS, a disability charity. He will be running the London Marathon next year but also raises the money through his work. He is offering local businesses bespoke cartoons for Christmas cards or general promotions with the proceeds going to the charity.

KIDS has been around in one form or another for about 40 years. Their aim is simply to work in many different arenas to enable young people with disabilities to live as full and rewarding a life as they can. Their patrons include Sir Elton John, Cherie Booth and Elizabeth Hurley. They not only work directly with children and young people but also with their carers and siblings a swell as providing training for professional support staff.

Last year, Fran and his wife Lynette raised several thousand pounds from the cartoons and a London to Paris bike ride so this strategy can work! This year he thought it would be an idea to try and do something locally so is hoping some local businesses might like to use him for a Christmas card or maybe some promotional work with the proceeds going to KIDS.
