MORE CYCLING – BETTER CYCLING

This is one of the aims of the A646 Project Group, which is working towards a strategy for management of the A646 in Calderdale.

With Air Quality Management Areas declared in Hebden Bridge and Luddenden Foot, shifting people out of cars in favour of walking, cycling and public transport is a priority. Towards this end, we hope to develop a cycling strategy for the A646 corridor.

Do you cycle regularly on the A646 or the Calder Valley Cycleway? Do you have thoughts on what could be done to improve that experience? Would you be willing to join an informal group to work on the cycling strategy, setting out the approach we would like the council to take to improving facilities for cycling in the A646 corridor?

If you think you can help, please come to a meeting on Tuesday 4th March, 8pm, at the White Lion, Hebden Bridge (in the family room down the corridor). If you can’t get to the meeting but have ideas you want to share, please contact myra.james@3-c.coop tel. 01422 845131.

CALLING ALL CYCLISTS!

Thursday, 24 January 2008

The A646 Project Group is working with Calderdale Council officers to develop a strategy for management of the A646 in Calderdale.

An early task of the group will be to respond to the Council’s action plan for the Air Quality Management Area along the A646 in Hebden Bridge, due to be published this April.

We would like our response to include a cycling strategy and a pedestrian strategy for the road, putting forward measures to encourage a shift from motoring to walking and cycling.

Do you cycle regularly on the A646, the Calder Valley Cycleway or the towpath?   Do you have thoughts on what could be done to improve that experience?   Would you be willing to join an informal group to work on the cycling strategy, setting out the approach we would like the council to take to improving facilities for cycling in the A646 corridor?

If you would like to come to a meeting, or perhaps participate by email , please contact myra.james@3-c.coop.
