Outta Place, a new social enterprise forms in Hebden Bridge

Thursday, 26 November 2009

Recently formed Outta Place is a collective of artists, teachers and academics dedicated to the notion of arts for social change. Outta Place works to create opportunities for young people to participate in high quality arts activity.

Their Vision is based on our belief that participation in creative activity is fundamental to the well-being of individuals and communities and therefore should be accessible to all, and that the community will benefit by having a greater sense of worth and a stronger skill base.

Their Mission is to increase equality of opportunity for people to participate in the arts and our focus is currently on hard to reach young people.

Peer to peer learning and accreditation are some of their core values. They aim to inspire local youth providing them with new skills and abilities which in turn will encourage their peers so an exchange of informal learning can take place.

They are trained to deliver the Arts Councils' Arts Award. This scheme aspires to support any young person to enjoy the arts and develop creative leadership skills.

Offered at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the National Qualifications Framework.

Arts Award can be achieved at three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

On their website, they say "As we are quite new, we've put this blog here to keep you up to date on developments of out new social enterpise."
