More bad publicity for controversial Labour candidate

Thursday, 10 December 2009

Steph BoothArguments over non-payment for building work have landed controversial Labour candidate Steph Booth more bad press. According to the Halifax Courier, Halifax County Court has ordered her to pay £1000 to builder Shaun Rudman who built her a utility extension room to her house in Todmorden.

The court also rejected a counter claim by Steph Booth of £1000 for "mess, stress and inconvenience."

Bad publicity has surrounded Steph Booth's candidacy. There have been questions over the postal voting which led to her selection ("Cherie Blair's stepmother at centre of 'vote rigging' row" - Daily Mail), Yorkshire Post revelations about her role in ousting the previous candidate Janet Oosthuysen and another Daily Mail piece, currently off line for legal reasons
