CALDERDALE AND SITA CUT REFUSE COLLECTIONS

Thursday, 5 February 2009

Calderdale Council today confirmed to the Hebden Bridge Web that general collections of refuse, which have always been weekly, will in future be every fortnight.

All householders have received a leaflet explaining the new arrangement.

People have been contacting the Hebden Bridge Web complaining that they think the leaflet is "deceitful" because it doesn't even mention Kerbside who currently provide excellent kerbside collections of recyclable waste every two weeks, and who are supported and respected by our whole community.

Others are very worried about wheelie bins. It would seem that even those on steep hills in Hebden Bridge will be given wheelie bins to replace their normal dustbins. To find out whether you are going to have a wheelie bin phone 0845 245 7000, give them your postcode and they will check it on their database.

Emmerdale Star Backs Kerbside

Soap star Verity Rushworth recently joined us at Kerbside to show her support and hand out recycling certificates to trainees, who have recently completed their NVQs in Recycling.

Verity, whose mum used to work for the council, said that the organisation was valued by the people of Calderdale and provided a unique training and employment opportunity for some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
