Following the success of  Bliss is Ignorance at last year's Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, DankDance will present their new piece Limelight, a duet that uses local spaces to dramatic effect to analyse our desires and reservations about showing off. It looks at a persons impulses, within today's society, for seeking a certain amount of attention and recognition from our fellow man, and analyses a fine line between demonstrating a sense of self importance or taking pride in displaying ones proficiencies.

Limelight will be performed in St George's Square throughout the day of Saturday 2nd July as a part of imove On The Street.

It will also be performed in various locations around the town on Saturday 9th July at 6pm, and Sunday 10th July at 2pm and 4pm. There will be a secret meeting point for these performances, the location of which will be revealed in the second week of the Arts Festival.

Tom McKinney has performed with major orchestras and new music ensembles and is a founder member of The House of Bedlam and Tango 5. He is sought after as a chamber musician and is interested in new music and electro-acoustic music. This recital reflects these interests, combining exciting contemporary works with delightful pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Tom will be joined by the Irish composer Ailis Ni Riain who lives in Todmorden for a newly devised performance of her Cornerhouse/and Festival 2010 commission Brief-Blue-Electric-Bloom for spoken word and guitar.

A regular favourite at the Festival, this excellent, 30-strong chamber choir presents an intriguing programme of choral works from the 20th and 21st centuries, including Ravel's Trois Chansons, Britten's Choral Dances from Gloriana, James MacMillan's Divo Aloysio Sacrum and Howard Skempton's haunting sequence Rise up, my love. The choir will also sing an unusual choral work by Elgar, as well as songs by Arvo Pärt, Eric Whitacre and work by Saddleworth-based composer, Peter McGarr.

Bassist Peter Hook has been involved in some of the most groundbreaking records in history. As part of Joy Division he was an integral part of the albums Unknown Pleasures and Closer. After the death of Ian Curtis, he formed New Order. In this special event for the Festival, Peter will talk candidly about his adventures in the music biz before heading round the corner to dj at the Trades Club.
