Why your local councillors are against
the development of the Millpond area
From Councillor Michael Taylor
Friday, January 27, 2006

All three of your local Lib Dem Councillors, Mick Taylor, Nader Fekri and Janet Battye are against the proposals to develop the Millpond area submitted by Greentops. We fully support residents action against the plans, which we understand are recommended for rejection by the CMBC Officers.

We have been asked and have refused to refer the matter to the Planning Committee because we feel that the plans are not significantly different to those previously submitted and therefore the officers are quite right to reject the plans under delegated powers.

A misunderstanding has led to another councillor from another ward asking for the plans to go to committee even though he opposes them, because he felt that they ought to be aired in front of the Planning Committee as they are very contraversial. Peter Coles has now withdrawn the request in light of discussions with members of the public. The officers could now proceed to issue a refusal notice as originally intended.

If the officers subsequently decide that the matter should go to committee your local Lib Dem Team will go to committee to support the objectors.
