Dave Young becomes the first Labour councillor to represent Hebden Bridge on Calderdale for over ten years with over 50% more votes than his nearest rival.
Hebden Royd Town Council is shaken by the failure of its mayor elect Lesley Jones to be elected in Fairfield ward - all three seats have gone to Labour. In the 3 Hebden Bridge wards of Hebden Royd, Labour have taken 8 of the 9 seats; the Liberal Democrats have taken one seat. Overall, the Town Council is Labour 9 seats, Liberal Democrats 8 seats and Independent 1 seat.
A bad election for local Independent candidates.
21 year old Wesley Downs is elected to Hebden Royd Town Council as one of the youngest councillors.
Labour gain 3 councillors on Calderdale and Conservatives gain 2. Remains in no overall control. The Lib-Lab coalition is likely to continue.
