Film Night - Nosferatu and
Darius Battiwalla
St Michael’s Church,
Mytholmroyd
9pm
£7 (£5)
In partnership with The National Blood Service
The Festival presents a rare opportunity to experience
a landmark in cinema history accompanied by a live,
improvised score.
Nosferatu: the 1922 version directed by FW Murnau,
is the first adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and a
masterpiece of German expressionist cinema. It
remains unparalleled for its oppressive atmosphere
and tension. To accompany the film, Darius
Battiwalla will improvise live on the organ of St
Michael’s Church, Mytholmroyd.
Darius performs throughout the UK and abroad as a
concert organist and pianist. His performance at the
Sheffield Music Festival in 2009 saw gothic film fans
turned away from a packed Sheffield Cathedral, so
don’t miss this chance to experience brooding,
after-dark vampirism.
Stay Up Later With…
Tom Kitching and Gren Bartley
The Hole in t’Wall,
Hangingroyd Lane,
Hebden
Bridge
9.30pm to 12am
£6
Tom Kitching and Gren Bartley are one of the
brightest young acts on the folk scene today. Playing
music from a remarkably broad range of sources,
their new album Boundary crosses genres with a
healthy disdain for arbitrary pigeon-holing of styles
and traditions. Some songs just need to be sung.
‘A fearsome folk duo of the highest order.’
