Work on canal between Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd

Please could someone tell me why there are pumps and some kind of concrete structures being built on the edge of the canal between Hebden Bridgeand Mytholmroyd.

As I understand it, they are emergency overflows from the river, or its feeder streams, into the canal. Can check it out with the floodworks office.
