Woodland management for biodiversity and woodfuel

From Jenny Shepherd

Friday, 11 February 2011

The DCarb Upper Calder Valley steering group is working with Calderdale Council on proposals for woodland management and provision of woodfuel for burning in clean Defra- approved wood stoves.

DCarb Upper Calder Valley is an umbrella group of local organisations working for sustainability. It aims to help everyone in the upper valley to reduce their carbon footprint and create a low carbon area that will sustain us all - people, plants, land, water and air - indefinitely.

There's a DCarb Upper Calder Valley Facebook page if you want to check out what the group does, or add questions, comments or suggestions.

What a good idea Jenny, the only problem I can see is more or less everyone thinks they can burn wood on a wood burning stove.

It must be pointed out more that it has to be a defra approved wood burning stove if it is to be used in a smokeless area, that includes most of Hebden Bridge and yes that means all of the Foster Lane area, which at times look like a scene from Chitty chitty bang bang..
