Huddersfield Literature Festival
16-20 March

Friday, 11 February 2011

Excitement is in the air for this year’s Huddersfield Literature Festival. Travel to Huddersfield from Wednesday 16 ? Sunday 20 March to experience some of literature’s finest names, including some from right on the doorstep!

Supporters of our own Hebden Bridge Arts Festival may welcome another opportunity to see Anne Fine, Some Girls' Mothers, Simon Armitage and AL Kennedy.

Festival patrons, Lemn Sissay and Sir Patrick Stewart are very excited to see such a varied programme which sees writers taking centre stage, with several unique events which you won’t find anywhere else including book launches, film premi?res, workshops, singing and comedy.

Huddersfield born Simon Armitage, who has recently been awarded a CBE, will be in the University’s Phipps Hall, previewing a specially commissioned film and presenting his ‘Seeing Stars’ collection on Saturday 19 March.

Another fantastic local author, David Peace (writer of the Damned Utd and the Red Riding quartet), will also be gracing the University on Thursday 17 March, in lively conversation with the festival director.

The Poetry Business will be showcasing three of their best writers in Huddersfield’s Media Centre on Friday 18 March. The group formed in the town in 1986 and are classed as a vital literary organisation to the UK.
The festival presents a unique opportunity to experience the word in action, and tickets will be available soon from the Laurence Batley Theatre Box Office. Please book via telephone for the best deals.
