Current likelihood is that consultation on closure of HRI A&E dept will be launched on 22nd Feb and will last for 14 weeks.

This study shows that the risk of dying on the way to A&E is directly correlated to the increased distance.

Patients with respiratory diseases living in Holmfirth and Meltham, who will each have an extra 4.8 mile to travel should be concerned - they will have a roughly 1% increased risk of dying on the journey.
