The sound of a cuckoo
From Diana Monahan

During the year, the sound of a cuckoo can be heard in the area of Crow Nest Wood, Hebden Bridge, but never as early as 19th Feb 2017 this morning - three cuckoos.
Did anyone else hear it?
I have just found this website which seems to suggest, we might have a cuckoo which has arrived. Could it be Bill or Peckham?

I'm sure I heard a curlew on the moor above Old Town yesterday - much earlier than usual for them to be back. And lots of stuff in the garden seems to be ahead of schedule.

All the cuckoos shown on this link are still in central Africa as at the current date (Peckham, for example is currently in the Congo). The earliest historical arrival for a cuckoo in Calderdale is 17th April, and although many migrant birds are now returning earlier than they have previously, that usually means a few days earlier over a decade rather than weeks or months earlier. The sound of collared doves can be confusingly similar, so the birds heard are almost certainly those.
