Gay Capital Label (again)

Hebden Bridge: The gay-friendly town where everyone feels welcome

Reading the above article about our small town, really grates.
I don't know about others but I am absolutely sick of Hebden being labelled the Gay Capital!

Tolerant we certainly are, but for goodness sake why is this tired old adage wheeled out every single time someone writes an article about the town.

I think the fact is that most of us dont actually have any interest in other people's sexuality or preferences, so we mind our own business.

What is so wonderful about being accepting of all comers anyway?

I am widely travelled and have yet to see gays being stoned in the UK's Squares (not actually seen it anywhere but am aware it happens).

There are far more things than LBGT issues/events going on that we could promote. We are hardly Brighton are we!

Quite a nice article actually, nothing grating there for me! We have a lot to celebrate in our town, that's one element.

It's written due to an upcoming festival and also mentions the related radio show so has a purpose.
