Palestine: Ahed Tamimi

From Allen Keep

Saturday, 30 December 2017

There have been a number of discussions on this forum about Palestine and clearly it is a subject that is of some interest in our community as we have seen with the protest in the square and a discussion on the HB Facebook page re: Palestine and gay rights.

I'd like to draw attention to the case of Ahed Tamimi.

Ahed is a 16 years old Palestinian woman and activist who is currently detained by Israel after an altercation between her and IDF soldiers in her village on Christmas Eve. Many people will have seen the video of the incident and numerous reports and articles about it - others may not be aware and I hope will take time to find out.

For anyone in our community who feels they would like to support Ahmed you can write to her at the following address.
Ha Sharon prison

PO Box 7

Thank you.

Just to let people know that Ahed (and her mum) remains in jail and will do so until she is inevitably sentenced which may take months.

In the meantime, her story has re-ignited various campaigns against what the state of Israel does to Palestinian children. As a result, there is to be an Early Day Motion in Parliament to debate the military detention of children by Israel and there is a call to ask your local MP to support the motion.

Anyone who wishes to do just that can follow the link here to the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign page or you write to Craig Whitaker yourself of course.

Thanks.
