Little Park/Waterside Fold

From Jane Brierley

Peter David has eight flats for sale, each with two parking slots, a total of 16 parking spaces. Has a new set of planning apps gone through? Did I miss it?

Well spotted. This looks like the scheme that was approved in 2015. The ad says work due to start summer 2019, but nothing had started a few days ago.

We need to find out what happened with the Waterside Fold residents' legal advice regarding ownership /access rights. Is the developer planning to use Waterside Fold land for parking? Where is the site compound going to be sited?

And what are the implications for the playground? They are going to have to, at the very least, put up scaffolding in the playground.

Could one of our local councillors please comment on how the playground will be affected?

I had a feeling that this ridiculous development wasn't going to go away and leave us in peace.

The planning approval 16/00781/FUL states "The development shall not begin until plans of the site showing details of the existing and proposed ground levels, proposed floor levels, levels of any paths, drives, garages and parking areas and the height and finish of any retaining walls within the development site have been submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority".

Has anyone seen these details yet?

The original application provided no details of parking provisions and the planning approval also states "The development shall not be brought into use until 'no parking' signage has been installed along the frontage wall to Waterside Fold"

It has occured to me that advertising the (unbuilt) flats for sale might be a fishing exercise by the current owner - if enough people show interest then they will carry on and build them, if not then they might abandon the whole idiotic idea.

Would you buy a flat off-plan, in a flood zone? Would you lend money to anyone to buy such a property?

Just to clear any confusion, the sale board erected at Leedham Court on the river side is to advertise the Mccarthy Stone apartments constructed 5 years ago. This has nothing to do with the proposed planning chaos next door.

The as yet unbuilt flats were being advertised by Peter David on their website, but now seem to have been taken off the market. Not sure what's going on.
