Shaggy Dog story tellers celebrate 20 years

Monday, 22 September 2014

Hebden Royd council has awarded a funding grant to the local storytelling club as they celebrate 20 years at their Stubbing Wharf home.

The purpose is to encourage new tellers to keep the oral tradition going in the future. Shaggy Dog are providing an initial training day on 25th October to be held at Stubbing Wharf, to include lunch and mentoring, with the possibility of performing with renowned tellers on club nights.

Advanced courses may be available on request. For information and bookings they should contact Christine Savage-McMahon on 07581 706795.

Further information can be gained by attending the 20th anniversary club night on 26th September (see What's On).

On this the 20th anniversary of the club, they are delighted to have with them once again the inimitable Shonaleigh, performing The Ruby Tree. This haunting tale has been preserved in Jewish tradition for centuries, carrying echoes of Rapunzel, Snow White and the Twelve Brothers.

Shonaleigh has delighted audiences across the UK, Europe and the United States and we look forward to welcoming her once again at The Stubbing.
