Show Your Bike Some Love

Saturday, 25 October 2014

Events are being held at community cycle centres across West Yorkshire, as part of the Big Bike Revival week. Supported by the Department for Transport, The Big Bike Revival is running in locations around the North with organisers, CTC, the national cycling charity, encouraging people to dig out their old bikes and bring them along.

In Hebden Bridge, cycle:recycle will be running a number of activities which include bike assessments, use of the public stand, with support, information on local cycling activities in the area and electric bike rides. You can also donate any old bikes you don't use any more, for recycling.

There will be free bike lights on offer – in exchange for filling in a questionnaire. People will be able to do this in the centre of Hebden Bridge on Saturday 25th – and from Tues till Friday at cycle:recycle Unit 7, Victoria Works, Victoria Rd, HX7 8LN.

For details of the full programme see cycle:recycle's website at www.cyclerecycle.org.uk or or Facebook page

"It's all about helping people get back out on their bikes," says organiser Ian Richardson from CTC "so many people stop cycling just because their bike has a puncture or they need a different type of bike. We're here to help people get around these issues, and keep families cycling."

It is estimated that there are millions of bikes lying unused in sheds and garages around the country, many with only small faults. It is hoped that by reclaiming these bikes and helping them be useful again, people around the country will be able to enjoy cycling once more.
