Plants and people wanted for Station

Monday, 20 June 2016

Thanks to Nina Smith for this article

Have you any spare seedlings, seeds, plants, or small shrubs? Can you give some away to further beautify Hebden Bridge Station?

The Friends of Hebden Bridge Station have recently cleared an overgrown area and prepared it for planting, but they need donations to stock it.

The Friends are also looking for more volunteers to help maintain the station gardens. You don't need "green fingers", just enjoy working with friendly people to brighten up your community.

The Friends are involved in other ways to help look after the Grade 2 Listed station, and are planning to paint the rusted cycle lockers.

It costs nothing to be a Friend other than some of your time and it's a good way to keep fit and help Hebden Bridge. Soon you will be able to pick some of the gooseberries and currants which the group planted alongside the car park some years ago.

Over the summer, a small group will get together at the station on the first and third Saturdays, from 2 pm to 3 pm.

New volunteers are most welcome – just turn up on the day or contact David Storr on 01422 843178 or email or see the Friends website
