Last years Duck launch

The duck race is a family event attracting vast numbers to the town, with entertainment, charity stalls and of course a fantastic array of food. The entertainment this year includes Hebden Radio and the fabulous Kirsty Newton, a Hebden Bridge lass who describes herself as a multi-instrumentalist 'human jukebox'.

Alongside the main race, there is also a Business Duck race, principally aimed at local businesses and organisations. Any organisation or individual can buy a duck, at a cost of £10, with a fantastic first prize of a City Break for 2 with Jet2holidays. There are also 2 prizes of a meal for two at the Il Mulino restaurant, Hebden Bridge.

Tickets for both events can be bought online, also at outlets throughout Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd. We will also be selling tickets in George's Square, Hebden Bridge over the weekends leading up to the race.

A full list of donations made by Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge can be found via our website.

It is great to get feedback from organisations we have supported. Over the past few years we have supported the members of St. Mary's church in Luddenden who regularly visit and provide support to a village in Mmazame, Tanzania, this time providing vital support to set up a dairy system of milking goats providing much needed nourishment and income to the village. We were delighted to hear that is now successful project.

Closer to home we received feedback from Young at Heart singers, a group of senior citizens who meet once a week to sing for pleasure, thanking us for our donation and inviting us for a sing song. They might regret that invite!

Thanks to the Hebden Bridge Rotary Club for this news.
