Visit from Twin Town St Pol to Hebden Bridge
Monday, 14 May 2018
It was with some trepidation that we waited for the informal visit from our friends from St Pol on the evening of 3rd May. Would all our arrangements be successful and a good time be had by all – both visitors and hosts? However, not only was the weather perfect for their visit – everything else went well too.
On the Friday morning we had quality time with our hosts, followed by a visit to Cliffe Castle in Keighley in the afternoon. The cakes in the newly refurbished restaurant were particularly appreciated by our guests!
Saturday was devoted primarily to Halifax, where we visited the Piece Hall, the Industrial Museum (very popular) and the new library.
A visit to Eureka was also arranged for the younger members of the party.
In the evening we had a great social at the ever helpful Mytholmroyd Community Centre. Music from "Ghost School" with a guest player from "The Tragic Duo" was the highlight of the evening – both for dancing and simply listening.
Finally on Sunday morning we bid farewell to our friends – though looking forward to seeing them in France next year.
