One Usher (6 Hours Per Week)

Post Grade: SCP 2 £17,711 pro rata (equivalent to £9.21 per hour)

Hebden Royd Town Council is seeking to recruit one committed, motivated person to join our Front of House Team at the Hebden Bridge Picture House, to work regular hours each weekend plus occasional overtime hours, covering other staff members’ hours on a casual basis for holiday and sickness absence and working a share of additional shifts e.g. matinees during school holidays, shifts needing additional ushers.

Responsible for serving the public at film screenings and live events at the Picture House, under the supervision of the Duty Manager, the Usher role’s duties include:

  • ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all patrons of the cinema.
  • selling food and drink via the kiosk and bar, including serving alcohol, cashing up and stock replenishment and counting.
  • working as part of the front of house team to ensure that all the Front of House standards for the Hebden Bridge Picture House are fulfilled.
  • liaising with our customers both face to face and over the telephone.
    playing a part in ensuring Licensing Legislation, Health & Safety Legislation and Security procedures are adhered to.

The two permanent shifts of Saturday Matinee and Sunday Matinee are of an average 3 hour duration, but longer film screenings / live arts broadcasts can enhance the working hours to 4 or 5 hour shifts on occasion.

The shifts are usually Saturday and Sunday 1.00-4.00pm but the start time can be as early as 12 noon, may involve working until 5pm / 5.15pm. Overtime is paid where more than 6 hours per week are worked.

As alcohol sales are involved you must be over 18 years of age.
