Wednesday, 15 May 2019

James BakerHebden Bridge resident Councillor James Baker is one of the candidates standing for election to the European Parliament next Thursday 23rd May.

The Liberal Democrats who James is standing for are hoping to get at least one MEP elected in the Yorkshire and Humber Region. Standing on their 'Bollocks to Brexit' Manifesto.

Councillor James Baker told the HebWeb, “It’s a privilege to represent my party in these European Parliament elections. During the referendum campaign, I was the election agent in Calderdale for the Stronger In Campaign. Hebden Bridge was one of the areas that did vote to stay in Europe, and there are many remain supporters in the Town.”

“Across Europe people have learned to co-operate, to make decisions together, and to shape our own future. As Europeans, we have built common understanding and institutions for democracy and justice, and I feel a responsibility to stand up for these values.”

“The Liberal Democrats are moving ahead in the polls. We are currently ahead of the Conservatives and just one point behind Labour.  As the biggest remain party, every vote for us will be a vote to help stop Brexit.
