Mytholmroyd flood works - more Burnley Road diversions

The next phase of Burnley Road diversions is taking place on Caldene Avenue throughout July. This is necessary to enable services, which include water, gas, electric and telecoms, to be redirected across the new Caldene Bridge.
Instead of closing Burnley Road completely for 4 weeks . .
Following this, work will begin on Burnley Road to enable connections to be made across the new bridge into the existing services within Burnley Road. This work is due to commence in early August. This service connection work, in a particularly constrained area, could have potentially required a full road closure of Burnley Road for up to 4 weeks.
A diversion through Mytholmroyd Fire Station forecourt
However, the Environment Agency and Calderdale Council recognise the significant impact a full road closure would have on the wider community and the economy, particularly during peak tourist season. Therefore, extensive work has been undertaken with utility companies and local stakeholders to find an alternative solution that keeps Burnley Road open. In order to achieve this, we will be creating a temporary single lane diversion of the highway across the forecourt of Mytholmroyd Fire Station. This will allow the service connections to take place in front of the fire station within Burnley Road.
Temporary removal of Fire Station
During the construction and removal of the temporary highway through the fire station forecourt the fire station will be inaccessible. Therefore, we will be arranging a temporary base within the village for the fire engine during these works. Whilst the diversion is in place access to the fire station will be available.
Flood alleviation work now to continue until summer 2020
Keeping Burnley Road open with this diversion creates additional construction work and prevents progress on other areas of the project, we therefore expect some impact on the overall completion of the project. We now expect the flood scheme to be completed by summer 2020. As the utility work progresses, we will continue to seek opportunities to bring forward other construction activity as much as possible. When we are in a position to provide a firmer estimate for construction completion we will communicate this to the community.
