13 Calder High students have been suspended following a peace protest at the school today
Over 150 Calder High students walked out of lessons today in protest at the imminent war against Iraq. One of the students told us that they were very concerned about what was happening and wanted to make their voice heard. The Head and other teachers tried to persuade the students to return to lessons but eventually gave up. They even offered the use of the gym to debate the issue - but only for 20 minutes! The students stayed in the front field chanting slogans and singing peace songs - a guitar appeared - for two hours.
